Today my fantastic4 and I went to the Firefly Landing Sneak Peek at the Indiana State Museum. It’s the newest addition that opens to the public on January 3, 2020 from 9am–10am. This amazing little exhibit caters to 18 months up to six years old.
Everyone is so kind at Firefly
Prior to arriving, I informed the staff that I would have a big group you. If you know me or read my blogs, you know I am a homeschooling mom to four. The museum staff was so kind and let me know that wouldn’t be an issue for them. When we arrived the Firefly Landing staff greeted everyone with a smile, everyone is so kind and attentive. I saw many of them taking short moments to chat with the moms, including myself.
Sensory fun and storytime
Firefly Landing is located on the second floor of the museum. There are little sensory and play stations for children to learn and explore through play. Each station theme and activity is different. They also have two storytime sessions, ours included two different books read by two different employees.
My youngest is four, she tried a little bit of each station. While my six-year-old stuck to his two favorite stations; bugs and magnetic-blocks. My eight and ten-year-olds are amazing helpers with their younger siblings, so they took part with leading my shy little ones.
The staff present is very interactive. I witnessed a couple of them get down and play with my kids. As I mentioned above, there were two stories read which my youngest enjoyed listening to. She enjoyed it so much that she even asked if I would buy one of the books for her. I am adding “Mix it Up” to our amazon cart because of today! My kids were not sure about the sneak-peek when we arrived but I asked them about their experience and they all said: “It was a lot of fun”.
